How Safeguard Foundation Is Governed

Safeguard Foundation is governed by a board of trustees who are responsible for ensuring the charity remains focused on its purpose and operates in the best interests of the people and communities it supports.

Our trustees oversee the charity’s activities, finances and use of funding. They also review important decisions, including how support is provided and how the charity works with suppliers and community partners.

We are committed to operating responsibly, making fair and transparent decisions and using the funds entrusted to us carefully.

Fair and Considered Decisions

How We Make Decisions

Our trustees are responsible for making important decisions about the charity’s activities and how its available funding is used.

Applications for support are considered against our eligibility criteria, the individual circumstances of the applicant and the funding available at the time. Where appropriate, we may ask for further information to help us understand whether the proposed technology and support will be suitable.

Decisions are made fairly and consistently, with the needs, dignity and independence of each applicant kept at the centre of the process.

Using Our Funds Responsibly

Financial Oversight and Transparency

Our trustees oversee the charity’s finances and are responsible for ensuring that donations, grants and other funding are managed carefully and used to further our charitable purposes.

We maintain appropriate financial records, review the charity’s income and expenditure, and make sure that funding is allocated responsibly. Wherever funding is provided for a particular project or community, we aim to use it for that intended purpose.

As a registered charity, Safeguard Foundation is accountable to the Charity Commission and will submit the financial information and reports required of us.

Protecting Our Independence

Managing Conflicts of Interest

Safeguard Foundation recognises the importance of making decisions independently and in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.

Any actual or potential conflict of interest must be declared by the trustees. Where a conflict arises, the affected trustee will not take part in the relevant discussion or decision.

The Foundation may purchase technology or services from connected organisations, including Safeguard Technologies Ltd. Any such arrangement will be considered by the trustees, appropriately recorded and reviewed to ensure that it represents reasonable value and supports the charity’s objectives.
