How We Help

How We Help

Support Starts With Understanding What Matters to You

Everyone’s circumstances are different. You may be feeling isolated, have lost confidence, be finding it harder to take part in community life or simply want to understand what support may be available.

You do not need to know exactly what you need before contacting us. The first step is a friendly conversation about what matters to you, what may be getting in the way and what could help you feel more confident, connected and independent.

This could include introducing you to local opportunities, finding practical support or exploring whether personal safety technology could make a meaningful difference.

Ways We Can Help

Support Shaped Around the Person

Support will look different for everyone. We listen first and then explore the combination of connections, opportunities and practical help that could make the greatest difference.

1. Community Connection

We can help people discover welcoming local groups, activities and opportunities to meet others, build relationships and feel more involved in their community.

2. Confidence and Independence

We work with people to understand what may be affecting their confidence and explore ways to help them remain active, make their own choices and continue doing the things that matter to them.

3. Practical Support

We can provide information, guidance and connections to suitable local organisations or services, helping people find the right support without having to navigate everything alone.

4. Personal Safety Technology

Where it is appropriate, we can explore whether personal safety technology could provide greater reassurance and help someone feel more confident at home or while out in their community.

Who Can Contact Us

You Don’t Have to Navigate Things Alone

You can contact Safeguard Foundation for yourself, on behalf of someone you care about, or as a professional or community organisation supporting an Isle of Wight resident. You do not need to know exactly what support is required, and you do not need a professional referral to start a conversation.

For Yourself

If something is affecting your confidence, independence or ability to take part in community life, you can contact us directly to talk about what may help.

For Someone You Care About

A family member, friend or carer can get in touch if they are concerned about someone or believe that additional support, connection or reassurance could make a difference.

For a Person You Support

Health and care professionals, community groups, charities and other local organisations can contact us about someone they are working with, provided the person knows about and agrees to the referral.

What Happens Next

A Simple, Supportive First Step

Our support is not limited to a particular age, diagnosis or set of circumstances. We look at the whole person, what matters to them and the difference the right support could make in their everyday life.

Tell Us a Little About the Situation

Contact us for yourself or someone you support and briefly explain what is happening. You do not need to know what the solution might be.

Have a Friendly Conversation

We will take time to listen, understand what matters to the person and discuss anything that may be affecting their confidence, independence or community involvement.

Explore What Could Help

Together, we will consider suitable community connections, local opportunities, practical support and personal safety technology where it may be helpful.

Agree the Next Step

We will explain the available options and agree what happens next. This could involve connecting someone with a local opportunity, providing ongoing guidance or exploring additional support.

Take The Next Step

Start a Conversation

You do not need to complete an eligibility check or know exactly what kind of support is needed. Simply tell us a little about the situation and we will help you explore the next step.

There is no obligation, and contacting us does not commit you to applying for funding or using any particular service.

Ask For Support

Tell us about your situation and explore the support that could help you feel more confident, connected and independent.

Refer Someone

Tell us about a relative, friend or person you support who may benefit from greater confidence, connection or independence.
